Detailed Description

Domino - CTS-XHP Blade - Carbon Fiber Scales

Designed by Eric Glesser, the Domino is the second Spyderco knife to feature a Kit Carson-inspired flipper opener. Its FFG (full flat ground blade) is machined from premium CTS-XHP steel and rides on specially designed ball bearing washers for an ultra-smooth opening action. The handle features a solid titanium scale on one side and a titanium liner and black Cubic Check Carbon Fiber Laminate scale on the other. The titanium scale houses a high-strength Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism with a steel interface that serves double duty as an overtravel stop. For ease and versatility of carry, the Domino also includes a black, four-position pocket clip.

My new favorite!
Mike B. (West Palm Beach, FL) 9/13/2013 4:09 PM
Picking a favorite Spyderco knife is like choosing a favorite child. But, the Domino has shot up to the top of my list of about 50 Spydies I own. The carbon fiber laminate scale is really pretty (and different than any of the other CF scales offered by Spyderco). Underneath that CF / G10 scale is a skeletonized titanium liner. On the other side is a full-titanium frame that integrates the frame lock. Lock-up is rock-solid. There is no blade-play in any position. The Domino is a beautiful piece with very tight tolerances. The open back design will make it easy to clean. The blade pivot rides on a ball-bearing washer, and it is slicker than owl **it. Smooth! But, the REALLY cool feature is the flipper tab on the back side of the knife. This is my first "flipper." It's COOL, discreet, and FAST to deploy! You'll find yourself flicking the flipper over and over. Thwack! The CTX-XHP steel blade is SHARP out of the box. A lower-riding clip would have been nice. But, I expect there will be aftermarket clips coming. If you're a Spyderco fan, this is a MUST HAVE! If you've not yet owned a Spydie, the Domino will surely convert you.

Outstanding knife!
Ken Lunde (San Jose, CA) 8/29/2013 10:17 PM
I buy knives somewhat sparingly, but it is usually triggered by a unique feature or two. The Domino is no disappointment. It is quite a remarkable knife. Deployment can be performed using the typical Spyderco hole, or by manipulating the flipper on the blade. Don't let the "Made in Taiwan" aspect of this knife dissuade you from owning it, because the materials and fit/finish are top-notch. The only thing that would make the Domino better would be if Cutlery Shoppe were to offer an exclusive with an Orange G-10 scale.
