Detailed Description
Moran Featherweight - Upswept Bowie Blade Bill Moran is the father of modern Damascus steel, and founder of the American Bladesmith's Society. He is easily the most "in demand" knife smith in the world, and his waiting list for a custom made piece exceeds 20 years. This custom collaboration, the Moran Featherweight is modest and unpretentious in its ability and aptitude - rather like Bill himself. The FB01 has an upswept Bowie-style blade, flat-ground from VG-10. It's tapered - starting thick where the blade joins the handle - thinning down the spine to a fine, uniformly ground tip. The handle is made of durable FRN (Fiberglass Reinforeced Nylon) with rubbery Kraton insets. This well-thought out handle is a decided bonus in the field, where hands are frequently soaked, numb or gloved. Highly recommended for hunting and camping both models come in a molded Boltaron sheath with multi-position G-Clip fastening system. The Moran Featherweight is my personal pick as the best overall outdoor/hunting/survival field knife (short of a bowie) that you can carry. How's that for an ever-so-subtle recommendation? Jeff
