M16 Zytel The Kit Carson designed M16 series continues to be one of the most popular models in the Columbia River Knife & Tool product line. The M16 Zytel was designed to offer a more affordable version of the aluminum M16 model. The M16 Zytel features textured Zytel scales and a dual 420J2 stainless steel liner InterFrame that is assembled with Zytel back spacers The blades are AUS 4 high-carbon stainless steel which gives an ideal combination of toughness and edge-holding ability in a work knife, and also allows easy field-sharpening. The handle is slightly heftier and wider than the aluminum build M16, but it is exceptionally rigid. The hefty M16®-04Z and 14Z Big Dogs offer larger dual grind Tanto-style blades. These are full-size working knives suited to large hands and heavy-duty tasks. They are ideal for a variety of carry positions. All models feature the Carson Flipper, which speeds opening of the blade and acts as a blade guard when the blade is open.
